Gather your old jam jars and pull out your sticky back plastic, it's time to make and do. For starters there is a colourful whirr, a pair of stilts and a toy snake.
On some old newspaper, paint the reels and rubber ball green, with yellow spots.
Ask Mummy, Daddy or your teacher to make holes for the string through the ball and corks.
Paint the corks black. Paint two eyes on the ball, which is the snake's head.
Tie a knot at the end of the string, and thread the other end through one of the corks.
Thread the reels on to the string; then the ball, and then the other cork.

Using your ruler, draw lines from corner to corner of the cardboard. Bore holes close to the centre as show.
Draw coloured stripes on both sides of the cardboard.
Thread the end of the string through one hole, then back through the other hole. TIe the ends of the string together, and pull the string until the whirr is in the centre.
